The annual Medical Camp organized by the Matale Science college PPA Colombo branch was successfully held on 10th and 11th September at Elkaduwa Tamail maha Vidyalaya in Matale district. This time it was jointly organized with the help of the Ministry of Health, Elkaduwa Plantation. Dr. P.M. Ratnayake an eminanat past pupil of our college and the present Director of Estate and and Urban Health, of the Ministry of Health took a leading role in organizing this event.
More than 2000 patients were examined during the two days in number of clinics as usual.There were separate clinics for children, ENT, Eye and Dental in addition to the mobile laboratory for testing of Blood and urine. About 50 doctors and their staff participated in this event and we thank them for their corporation. We also thank the Manager and the staff of Elkaduwa estate for their support in providing accommodation and preparation of meals. Most of the villagers in the area were poor and did not have access to some of the facilities that were made available in the medical camp. Therefore they were immensely benefited from this event. We as the PPA of Matale Science College were extremely happy that we could support the society specially Matale people in a small way like this.
All past pupils got together and enjoyed the day while working.We also had time to visit some eye catching places around the camp site.
